By including this set of images in this exhibit, I hope to highlight the various ways in which white settlers silenced, ignored, or even erased the experience of Native cultures during this period of colonization. In the photographed version, the Native American school children are pictured in front of the steps of the Old Mission Church. In the Artistic depiction, the artist removes any evidence of the school children from the photo--an act of historical erasure.
