The Centennial Celebration
This group of photos were taken about 20 years after the plot of the novel takes place during the 100 year anniversary of the Mission. I feel that they are a good representation of the ways in which both Native peoples and the Jesuit priests found ways to mend one another's cultures together. The photos depict Jesuits wearing some tradition Native American attire during the celebration and inside of the Mission Church during the Sunday celebration. For once during my time in the archives, I found a group of photos that was reminiscent of harmony, rather than segregation.
